Why Am I Still Anxious Even Though I Believe in God?
Believing in God and still struggling with anxiety is not a contradiction — but nobody ever explained why. This episode does.
In this episode, I break down why anxiety persists even in genuine believers, what the Bible says about that tension, and what walking in real peace actually requires.
In this episode:
• Why faith and anxiety are not mutually exclusive — and what that means for your walk with God
• What the Bible reveals about the relationship between trust, surrender, and anxiety
• Practical steps for moving from belief in God to actual daily experience of His peace
Walk & Warfare exists to answer the hard questions about faith, suffering, doubt, salvation, and what it actually looks like to follow Christ in the world we live in today. No fluff. No performance. Just real biblical answers for real people.
Anthony Jennings founded Walk & Warfare to give believers — and seekers — a place to wrestle honestly with the Bible and come out with something they can stand on.

Many Christians carry a quiet question they rarely say out loud If I truly believe in God, why do I still feel anxious? You may trust the Bible, you may believe that God is in control, you may even pray regularly, and yet anxiety still shows up. Sometimes it appears as a constant sense of pressure, sometimes it shows up as racing thoughts or a tight feeling that something might go wrong. And when that happens, many believers begin to feel confused or even ashamed. They wonder if their anxiety means their faith is weak. But the Bible shows us that faith and human emotion often exist side by side. Believing in God does not remove every struggle of the human heart. Even some of the most faithful people in Scripture experience deep moments of fear and distress. In Psalm 13, David cries out to God saying, How long, O Lord, will you forget me forever? These are not the words of someone who stopped believing. They are the words of someone who believes in God but is struggling to understand what he is feeling. The truth is that anxiety can come from many places. Sometimes it comes from uncertainty about the future. Sometimes it grows during seasons of exhaustion, stress, or pressure. Sometimes it develops after painful experiences that leave the mind constantly on alert. And sometimes anxiety simply reflects the reality that we are human. Faith does not mean our emotions instantly disappear. Faith means learning where to bring those emotions. In Philippians 4 6, the Apostle Paul writes, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Notice that Paul does not shame believers for feeling anxious. Instead, he invites them to bring those concerns directly to God. Over the years I've had moments where anxiety crept in even though I knew the truths of Scripture, moments when responsibilities felt heavy or the future felt uncertain. And in those moments I had to remind myself of something simple. Faith is not the absence of anxious thoughts. Faith is choosing where to take those thoughts when they appear. Scripture repeatedly reminds us that God cares deeply about what burdens us. 1 Peter 5 7 says, Cast all your anxieties on him because he cares for you. That word all matters, not just the big worries, not just the spiritual ones, all of them. God is not distant from the struggles of our minds and hearts. He invites us to bring them to him honestly. If you believe in God and still find yourself wrestling with anxiety, you are not alone. Your faith has not failed. You are simply walking through a human struggle that many faithful people have experienced before you. And the same God who hears your prayers continues to walk with you through it.
